I must say Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the greatest anime series of all time. But just like Monsters, this series has a slow pace which might seem boring to some people.
Fortunately, it’s not as slow as Monsters. Otherwise, a majority of people would have underestimated this show. And guess what? This might have become one of the underrated series.
In this blog post, I’ll show you why Fullmetal Alchemist isn’t as boring as you think. In fact, I’ll give you 5 reasons to watch it. So let’s begin!
#1 – First 10 Episodes Are Really Boring
Fullmetal Alchemist is filled with a bunch of stories and characters. That’s why it’s difficult for people to get along. Once you’re past the first 10 episodes, you’ll start getting serious with this show.
Before these 10 shows, I also felt like skipping the entire series. I’m glad I didn’t because after a while everything made sense to me.
But remember, there’s a condition if you want to enjoy it after the 10th episode. It’s mentioned in the #2 reason why you should watch Fullmetal Alchemist.
#2 – Skip it If You Can’t Connect Dots
I am a guy who loves to connect dots. If you’re not that kind of person, I’d recommend you should skip it.
When you can’t understand how Alchemy works, why Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse lost their bodies, and what’s the fuss about the Philosopher’s stone, it means you either prefer other genres or you’re not watching this seriously.
So basically, what I’m trying to say is if you’re that kind of person who loves to watch anime while texting your girlfriend or best buddy, you might not understand what’s going on in the series.
You have to think of concepts and understand specific things like Homunculus, Chimera, Circle, etc. More importantly, the clash between Roy Mustang and King Bradley is worth watching.
#3 – Do You Like Classic Themed Anime Series?
Although there are good signs of technology in Fullmetal Alchemist, you won’t get the modern vibe. You won’t get to see big buildings, spaceships, advanced weapons, or extra flashy VFX. Instead, it’s more of an old town thing.
As far as I can tell, the vibe of Fullmetal Alchemist is just like Naruto’s early shows or Attack on Titans.
#4 – There Are Stories in A Story
I guess the writer has included many stories inside the story. For instance, you can’t understand Scar if you don’t know where he came from.
Although he’s a bad character, there’s a lot to learn about him that might change your mind. For that kind of understanding, you have to keep watching so that you can get what really happened with him. What made him the way he is now.
Once in a while, you’ll get a background story on most of the characters. The more you learn about characters, the more entertaining this series gets.
#5 – It’s a Bit Dramatic
Fullmetal Alchemist is that kind of series where villains become heroes and heroes become villains. Not only this, paying attention to details will teach you a lot of life lessons.
There are scenes where I ended up having tears in my eyes. Plus, the bromance between Edward and Alphonse is wonderful.
But that’s not it, I’ve also laughed a lot of times, especially when someone calls Elric a ‘runt’ or ‘short.’
Is Fullmetal Alchemist Worth Watching?
I nearly stopped watching Fullmetal Alchemist at some point because I found it boring. One of my friends forced me to watch the entire series. So I did.
In my opinion, you shouldn’t skip Fullmetal Alchemist at all. Whether it’s suspense, romance, action, or thrill, I can say this is one of those series where you can get a little of everything. So I highly recommend this series!
